Minecraft tridents were introduced in the 1.13 update, also known as the update Aquatic.

Tridents are melee weapons and deal 9 dmg when hitting someone (a crit is 13 dmg), a ranged hit is 8 dmg. It has a total of 251 Durability points and every hit takes away 1.

Tridents can be obtained by various methods, but can not be crafted. One of the methods is killing a drowned, if the drowned is holding a trident (a drowned with a trident has a 15% chance of spawning) and has a 8.5% chance of dropping the trident, a drowned can also drop a trident if it doesnt have it in his hand, and this has a 3.7% to happen.
